Project 2: Gathering Requirements - User Analysis

 1. Proposed Tasks

1. Book an appointment
2. Assessing mental health
3. Ask a question to the help desk

2. Persona

Persona 1 - Elderly User

Linda is a 52 years old housewife. She owns a basic smartphone and occasionally checks her health updates on apps like MySejahtera. While she is not completely unfamiliar with technology, she finds it difficult to navigate modern apps due to the small font sizes, cluttered layouts and complex menu structures. Her eyesight has weakened with age and sometimes taps the wrong options, leading to confusion and frustration. Sometimes, she also faces low internet connectivity if her children forgot to pay her internet bills.

Linda is motivated by a desire for clarity and simplicity in using digital health services. She wants to manage her own health without constantly relying on her children for help. She wants to easily access her vaccination status, check in to locations or view health notices. Her ideal experience is an app with larger text and instant access for vaccination status without depending on internet connection.

Persona 2 - Low Data Connectivity User

Philip is a 20-year-old university student who lives in the city and commutes daily to his campus. While he has regular access to mobile internet, his phone often experiences slow connectivity due to limited data speed and occasional signal drops. He frequently relies on mobile apps for various tasks, including managing his health information through the MySejahtera application. However, he finds it frustrating when the app takes too long to load or doesn’t function properly due to weak connectivity.

Philip is motivated by the need for efficiency, convenience and assurance that can retrieve important health data anytime. He wants a health app that provides instant access to essential features without depending entirely on an internet connection. Philip would benefit from offline access to personal health records and a more responsive interface that performs well despite his slow data connection. He wants a smoother experience that helps him stay prepared and confident in managing his health status, especially in situations where time and convenience matter.

Persona 3 - Disabled or Visually Impaired User

Fiona is a 21-year-old university student who is currently staying at home to wait for her chosen university results. She is very reliable with new technologies as she needs to use it for her daily tasks and university application submission. As someone who is living at home, she also tends to help her parents to navigate their own technologies and applications such as MySejahtera. These cause more eye strain and leads to worsen her conditions on being visually impaired.

Whenever Fiona uses MySejahtera, she values the efficiency of the application on keeping track of health records. However, the fonts and the general background color of the application makes it too bright for her to navigate the application and leads to more eye strain. Therefore, she wants to have a new health application that can modify the symbols and colors to lessen eye straining. As someone who also values efficiency, she would like to ask questions quickly regarding any problems that she faces while using the app rather than needing to wait for days to receive responses.

3. Scenario

Book an Appointment (Persona 1 -  Elderly User)

It’s Friday night and Linda just remembered that she needs to book an appointment for her upcoming medical check up. She does not want to risk driving at night with her weakened eyesight to go to the clinic and book the appointment physically so she opens up the newest health support application; GoodCare.

When she opens the app, she can easily navigate the app as she has already customized the user interface that suits her such as bigger fonts and milder color themes. She clicks on the ‘Appointments’ button that can be seen clearly and chooses the appointment that she needs to the nearest clinic. Afterwards a confirmation screen appears for her to click on confirm. Lastly, a final message popped up stating that “Your appointment is confirmed!”. A reminder will also be sent to Linda the day before the date and she can view her appointment details anytime under ‘My Appointments’ even without having an Internet connection.

Assessing Mental Health (Persona 2 - Low Data Connectivity User)

Philip was sitting on his desk one night immersed in his work and surrounded with assignments papers. He also suddenly remembered that he forgot to start on his essay assignment that he needs to submit by tomorrow morning that is quite important for the course. However, when he wanted to open his university website the screen took such a long time to load and even his phone also showed a weak connection, this has been a major problem for Philip since forever. With all of the work looming over his head, he felt overwhelmed and his heart started racing erratically. He quickly reached out for his smartphone and opened up the GoodCare application. To his relief, the application loads instantly despite him having poor connection. On the main menu, he noticed the ‘RakanMinda’ button and clicked on it. The app then presented him with a screen saying “Good Morning Philip, how are you feeling today?”. He quickly tapped the ‘Stress’ option and then he needed to answer a few questions. Afterwards, he received a supportive message from the app and also his test scores in terms of his mental health situation. The application also offered immediate and actionable suggestions on what Philip can do to help his situation. As he followed the guidance, he felt a small shift in his situation and decided to slowly do his work and also ask help from his friends or family members.

Ask a Question to The Help Desk (Persona 3 - Visually Impaired User)

After Fiona is accepted to her dream university, the admins send her an email of a pre-admission health questionnaire that she needs to fill up by tomorrow to guarantee that she is in perfect health to continue her studies. As she was filling up the form, she noticed a section that questions if there are any medications or supplements that she is currently taking. However, she is quite unsure of the circumstances and going to the clinic would be inefficient since her home is quite far. So, she opened up the GoodCare application.

When she opens the app, she can see everything clearly and it does not strain her eyes that much after using the custom personalization features in the apps. She saw the ‘My Health Records’ section but before clicking on it, she immediately notices an AI chatbot icon that is glowing at the top right screen and immediately clicks on it. She enters a prompt asking if she is currently under any medications or supplements. Instantly, the chatbot lists out all the medications name and amount that she needs to consume. Fiona was very satisfied with the fast response and now she can easily fill up the questionnaire provided by her university.
